The Reading Classes
In 1996 a Reading Support Class was set up, within our school, to cater for a group of children with Specific Learning Difficulty. Those pupils made history as this was the first such Reading Resource and Support Class within a mainstream school in Ireland. The Support Area has grown since then and for a period had three groups but cutbacks forced the closure of one of these classes and so we now have two groups with nine pupils in each group. The classes serve the needs of the South Fingal Community. The children in these group are bright, eager and intelligent but learn differently to their peers. Children join the classes for a period of one or two years before returning to their own schools. In order to be considered for a place, an application must be made to the office. Details of the criteria for acceptance are available on our Enrolment Policy.
