Basketball
Basketball has been available as an after-school activity for over 20 years. Boys and girls from 4th, 5th and 6th classes are eligible to participate depending on numbers and coaches available.
For many years our school participated in events organised by the Dublin mini-Basketball Association. These included skills workshops, friendly matches and jamborees. The highlight of the year was the weekend trip to the annual Mini sports Festival. These festivals were held in St Patricks College in Drumcondra and teachers and students stayed in the halls of residence while taking part in up to 32 different sports.
The philosophy of the association was that children got to try a wide variety of sports in a non-competitive environment, while the emphasis was on having fun while learning new skills. Sadly, this event is no longer held.
In more recent years a competitive league has been set up and we are part of that. For the past 6 years, we have had at least one team in a final, winning it twice!
